West Ham defender Pablo Armero wants to leave Napoli and complete a permanent move to the Premier League side.

The Colombian left-back joined the Hammers on loan in January until the end of the season and, after starting the match against Liverpool on Sunday, he revealed he wants to join Sam Allardyce's side on a full-time deal.

"I want to finish the season well here so that I can guarantee myself a new deal with West Ham. I want to stay here," he said.

"The priority for me is to give my best in the West Ham shirt. With the World Cup being so close it's normal for a player to want to keep his form up heading into the summer."-- Camisetas De Futbol

Six European clubs will rival Liverpool to sign Hoffenheim sensation Roberto Firmino at the end of the season, according to sources in Italy.

Firmino has set the Bundesliga alight this season, grabbing 12 goals and eight assists in only 22 outings.

As such, his displays have alerted a number of heavyweights across the continent and he is expected to move on in the summer.

The 22-year-old, who is valued at around £13m, has just over 15 months left on his contract at Hoffenheim and the German club could spark a bidding war for his signature.

In addition to Liverpool, European giants Inter Milan, Juventus, Spartak Moscow, Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg and Zenit St Petersburg are all watching the former Figueirense man, who joined Hoffenheim in a bargain £3.3m deal back in 2011.-- camisetas de futbol baratas

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick will be out of action for up to six weeks with an Achilles injury, the club has confirmed.

The 32-year-old played in United's 1-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday but withdrew from the England squad preparing for the friendlies against Chile and Germany on Tuesday after feeling discomfort.

Carrick has long suffered with Achilles trouble and has now undergone a procedure which could keep him out until Christmas.

"We can confirm that Michael Carrick will be out for four to six weeks with an Achilles injury," United said on their official Twitter account.

Carrick, meanwhile, is edging closer to signing a new contract with United, with the 32-year-old in line for a two-year extension.-- comprar camisetas de futbol baratas

Pep Guardiola??s use of Philipp Lahm in midfield stays true to his attacking ideals

Posted by maxgeorge0018 on July 24, 2016 at 11:20 PM Comments comments (0)

Pep Guardiola’s transformation of Philipp Lahm from full-back to midfielder has caused a stir, having also tinkered with the midfield system used by the club in their treble-winning campaign, but there is plenty of logic behind his decisions.

The double pivot of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Javi Martinez was seen as key to Bayern’s success last season, with two holding midfielders freeing Bayern's attacking talent, but almost as soon as he was in the door, Guardiola tore up the Bavarian rule book and stayed true to his own ideas of what is required in the deep midfield role. That meant utilising just one holding player and, in Lahm, the Catalan found his ideal man for the job.

As Spanish football writer Pete Jensen pointed out, one of Guardiola’s greatest strengths is to see the player beyond the position, as has been the case with Lahm. For the Bayern manager, a player’s qualities and attributes are key, rather than where he has played for the majority of his career.

Above all, the most important thing for the Catalan is a player’s intelligence. Guardiola has called Lahm "the most intelligent player I’ve ever coached", while one writer described the German as a mixture of 'Pep the player' on the ball and Javier Mascherano off it, summing up his display against City to a tee.

Strikingly, Lahm’s movements against the Premier League side had shades of the job Sergio Busquets used to do for Guardiola's Barcelona; sometimes dropping between the centre-backs, sometimes pushing up with the rest of the midfield, never rushing a pass and happily taking the time to use his other foot in order to open up a better angle, rather than risk disrupting his team's intricate movement with an awkward ball.

For Guardiola, putting a player as intelligent as Lahm in charge of the toughest job in his tactical system is the most pragmatic move possible. In a recent interview for Adidas, Guardiola shed light on his decision to change Lahm’s

“He understands the game. Not all players do. A lot of players understand his position. Philipp can play in all positions. Football is a game where people move and you have to decide in one second what’s going on in your position as well as all around the field, and what he decides in that moment is right”.

For Guardiola, having one of the few players in the world capable of making correct decision after correct decision at the hub of his team is a no brainer. Moreover, it also allows Bayern to field Bastian Schweinsteiger further up the pitch and in a more liberated role.

Ask yourself, at Guardiola’s Barcelona, would Xavi Hernandez have been asked to drop deep and in the process risk limiting his attacking influence on the game in order to play alongside Sergio Busquets, when Busquets was more than capable of playing that role on his own? Guardiola sees opting for Lahm as a pivot and Schweinsteiger as an attacking influence as equally logical at Bayern.

Attack and defence are one for Guardiola, not mutually exclusive, and Lahm's attributes in the deep midfield role marry both areas. At Barcelona, his decision to drop the far more physically imposing Yaya Toure for Sergio Busquets, who is more intuitive in his positioning while at the same time a sharper passer than the Ivorian, summed up that logic.

Guardiola’s philosophy is that if the ball moves faster than the opponent, it doesn’t matter if that opponent is taller or stronger. That logic proved true when we witnessed 5ft 7in Lahm outplay the towering pair of Yaya Toure and Fernandinho, in both an attacking and defensive sense. More muscle doesn’t necessarily mean more security if the passing and movement is executed in such union as Bayern managed at the Etihad.

So what will Guardiola's next minor alteration to Bayern’s line-up be? The Catalan may be tempted to test Javi Martinez at centre-back ahead of Dante at some point in the near future. With a midfield three of Schweinsteiger, Lahm and Kroos perfectly balanced, Martinez may struggle to recover his place in that area of the pitch.

Fortunately for the Spaniard, a lengthy spell at centre-back under Marcelo Bielsa caught Guardiola’s eye back when both were working in Spain, to the degree that the Catalan coach advised Barcelona to sign him, only for Bayern to beat them to the punch.

With Dante less assured in one-on-one situations than the Spaniard, and Martinez presenting just as many options in bringing the ball out from the back as well as winning it in the air, it makes sense to see if he can perform in a role he played so effectively for Athletic. Particularly when Guardiola has highlighted the importance of defending against counter-attacks for Bayern; a weakness of Dante's, but a strength for Martinez, who times his tackling much better.-- camisetas de futbol baratas

Capital One Cup: Arsenal crash out on penalties to Bradford City

Posted by maxgeorge0018 on July 21, 2016 at 11:45 PM Comments comments (0)

Bradford City have caused the shock of the Capital One Cup and reached the semi-finals by knocking Arsenal out of the competition 3-2 on penalties after they drew 1-1 following extra-time.

The Gunners had only won one of their last five matches and throughout the tie looked low on confidence as a strong line-up failed to show their class against their League Two opponents.

And the Bantams, who nearly sent them packing in normal time, were able to keep their cool from 12-yards to embarrass the Premier League side.

Phil Parkinson’s men took a shock lead through Garry Thompson after 16 minutes as he volleyed home a free-kick which the Gunners weren’t able to clear properly.

Francis Coquelin nearly levelled for the visitors when his rampaging run ended in a strike coming back off the upright, while Gervinho failed to get on the end of Keiran Gibbs’ cross, which flashed in front of him.

England winger Alex Oxlade-chamberlain livened up the game for the Gunners at Valley Parade and thrashed an effort wide as over 20,000 Bantams fans got behind the courageous League Two outfit.

Matt Duke had to be at his best ten minutes from time to deal with Jack Wilshere’s low curling shot but the Bantams just couldn’t hold out and Thomas Vermaelen, three minutes from time, headed home to send the game into extra-time.

In the additional 30 minutes Gibbs tested the excellent Duke once more but the former Hull City goalkeeper was equal to his effort, while Santi Cazorla struck the woodwork with a 25-yarder but they failed to find a winner, sending the game into a penalty shoot-out.

The Bantams had won their last seven spot-kick contests prior to this and, after early misses from Cazorla and flop striker Marouane Chamakh for Arsenal, they were able to hold steady to confirm an incredible triumph when Vermaelen’s strike hit the post and rebounded out.

And, in the other tie of the evening, Aston Villa ran out 4-1 victors over Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Grant Holt nearly put the hosts 1-0 ahead but his strike hit the woodwork while Darren Bent also missed the target when put through by Brett Holman.

But it was the Canaries who took the lead after 19 minutes as Steve Morison put a neat finish past Shay Given the lead though only lasted two minutes as Holman lashed a first-time 20-yard drive into the back of the net.

Bent, returning to the line-up after an extended absence, was forced off early on with a hamstring injury to be replaced by Andreas Weimann.

Paul Lambert thought Christian Benteke had given his side the lead ten minutes into the second period but his header was disallowed, which followed Morison having a strike ruled out too.

Meanwhile Given, back in the team to replace current number one Brad Guzan produced a stunning save to deny Robert Snodgrass.

Moments later the Villans went ahead as Weimann converted a cross from Eric Lichaj and he made it 3-1 five minutes from time when the Vienna-born striker bagged his second from Benteke’s pass.

And the Belgian notched a goal of his own in the game's dying embers to put the gloss on their victory and seal their passage into the semi-finals of the competition.-- camisetas de futbol baratas

Steven Gerrard: ??There is no job for me at Liverpool at the moment? but I am in contact with Jurgen Klopp??

Posted by maxgeorge0018 on July 20, 2016 at 10:55 PM Comments comments (0)

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard insists that, while he is in contact with manager Jurgen Klopp, there is currently ‘no job opportunity’ for him at Anfield.

Since leaving for his Major League Soccer swansong in the United States, there has been much speculation about the ex-Reds captain linking up with his former club in some capacity.

However, Gerrard has revealed nothing is in the pipeline at the moment.

"People need to understand that Jurgen Klopp is his own man, he's got his own team of people around him, that he is very happy and content with," Gerrard exclusively told virtual reality company Laduma.

"Of course I've got a huge Liverpool connection and Liverpool is in my heart and always will be but there's nothing to really comment on.

"There's no future decision to work with Klopp, I get on really well with him, we're in contact but there's no job opportunity there at the moment.

"There is absolutely nothing to say on my future beyond this MLS season at the moment.

The 36-year-old midfielder is into the final six months of his contract with Los Angeles Galaxy and says he wants to ‘try and enjoy every last moment’ as his celebrated career comes to an end.

"I know I'm in the twilight, I know I'm coming to the end pretty soon,” he added.

"I just want to try and enjoy every last moment really. The one thing I'm going to miss [is] walking on to the pitch.

"I'm going to miss that buzz very much because that's what I play the game for."-- comprar camisetas de futbol baratas
